PricewaterhouseCoopers wants its employees to take their vacation days – and it is going to pay them to do so.

The firm has announced that, in addition to base salary increases and an expanding bonus allocation pool, it is going to encourage its employees to take their hard-earned vacation time with an additional bonus allocation of up to $250 for each week taken off.

With the coronavirus limiting social gatherings this past year, many U.S. workers have built up unspent vacation days in hopes that a post-pandemic landscape may allow for sunnier days spent traveling.

“Our people are the heartbeat of our organization, and their well-being is the most important thing for us to look out for,” wrote PwC U.S. chair and senior partner Tim Ryan in a LinkedIn blog post. “Because it is so important to take breaks, unplug, and experience new things (especially post-pandemic!), we will be giving $250 to employees each time they take a full week’s vacation for the next year, with the potential to continue this program into the future if we see wide adoption.”
